EMERSON: DETAILED DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
A film and television arts college on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, CA. The studio was focused around the use of objects and the creation of form/space from boolean interactions. An in between-ness is created in these space that are not quite inside or outside, but between forms. The vases that intersect the primary form extend to the interior and create the programmed spaces for housing, academic rooms, and other administrative functions.

Texture references the function of the school in that it creates a graphic through the same operation as an LCD display. Because of its layered articulation, the color seems to shift and change as the observer moves around the site and within the structure. As a school positioned in an urban setting, safety was paramount for the project. All entrances apart form parking and retail occur in the central courtyard, rather than at the street side.
